Prohibit MA police from cooperating with ICE
To: Gov. Healey
From: A verified voter in Lowell, MA
January 14
I’m writing to you from a county that is already seeing ICE presence, is the site of ICE deportation flights, and is a place where ICE is taking receipt of new vehicles. Outside of the city of Boston, many police departments are *not* barred from working with ICE upon request, even if that is to provide “traffic control support” or the like instead of actual raid assistance.
I implore you to please advance an order, resolution, bill, law, SOMETHING to extend the bar on ICE cooperation that applies to the Boston PD to other municipal PDs in our state. Massachusetts residents and workers deserve to know that their local PD will only be assisting citizens in need of help, not the ICE teams inflicting terror across the country.
