REJECT any DHS funding bill that directs more money to mass deportations and detention efforts and to demand that any DHS funding bill include meaningful guardrails to reign in ICE and Border Patrol abuses.
The DHS funding bill would add hundreds of millions of dollars to ICE’s budget on top of the $170 billion already allocated over the next four years for detention and enforcement in H.R. 1. Such funding levels set a dangerous precedent that undermines public safety and deepens fear in our communities.
From illegally detaining U.S. citizens and children, racial profiling people, conducting warrantless raids of people’s homes, spraying chemicals on peaceful protesters, terrorizing schools, hospitals, and churches to subjecting detainees to inhumane conditions and even killing multiple people in broad daylight, funding mass deportation efforts has left our communities traumatized and less safe.
The stakes are even greater now that this administration is using the violence and brutality unleashed by ICE and Border Patrol to pressure states to hand over their voter rolls and comply with its election suppression agenda.
The DHS funding bill is also funding ICE and Border Patrol raids at the expense of our communities’ essential services — healthcare, nutrition, education, housing and more. And now free, fair elections are at stake too.
Now is not the time to treat the DHS funding bill as business as usual. I demand that YOU REJECT any DHS funding bill that includes funds for ICE and Border Patrol. I also demand that any DHS funding bill include meaningful guardrails to reign in abuses by ICE and Border Patrol, and NO MORE FUNDING for these lawless immigration actions that threaten communities.
OPPOSE any DHS funding bill that includes funding for ICE and Border Patrol and demand that any DHS funding bill include meaningful guardrails to reign in abuses by ICE and Border Patrol that that threaten public safety and the rule of law.
