Reject FEMA fund misuse for Trump properties
To: Sen. Gallego, Sen. Kelly

The reallocation of $300 million from FEMA's budget to cover law enforcement costs associated with securing Trump's personal properties from July 2024 to September 2029 is an egregious misuse of taxpayer funds. FEMA's primary mission is to provide vital disaster relief and emergency assistance to communities in times of crisis. Diverting resources away from this crucial work to subsidize private security arrangements for the former president's real estate holdings is unacceptable. This provision not only compromises FEMA's ability to respond effectively when disasters strike, but it also raises deeply concerning questions about the potential for these funds to be exploited for politically motivated purposes under the guise of "presidential residence protection." I urge you to reconsider and remove this damaging carve-out from the budget bill. FEMA's limited funding must be preserved to protect American lives and communities, not provide a blank check for the former president's personal interests.
