The Senate Judiciary Committee's vote to advance Emil Bove's nomination as a federal appeals court judge on the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, despite overwhelming opposition and ethical concerns, is deeply troubling. Bove has clearly demonstrated a disregard for the rule of law and judicial impartiality through his actions at the Department of Justice under the Trump administration. His involvement in retaliatory firings of prosecutors, threats against state officials, and aiding in defiance of court orders related to immigration policies are antithetical to the principles of an independent judiciary. The fact that 900 former DOJ lawyers felt compelled to oppose Bove's confirmation due to his unethical conduct speaks volumes. Furthermore, his expressed support for Trump pursuing an unconstitutional third term and reported involvement in the highly improper review of the Epstein case cast serious doubt on his ability to act as a neutral arbiter. Advancing such a compromised and unfit nominee to a lifetime appointment on the federal bench undermines public trust in the judicial system and rule of law. I urge you to oppose Bove's confirmation when it comes for a Senate floor vote in order to uphold the integrity of the federal judiciary.
