I am tired of being told there is no money for healthcare, education, veterans, infrastructure, rural hospitals, food assistance, or programs that actually improve Americans’ lives. Apparently, however, there is always money, time, personnel, and political energy available for another spectacle. Americans are struggling with rising costs, unaffordable healthcare, crushing student debt, and an increasingly fragile economy. Families are making difficult choices every month about groceries, medications, housing, and childcare. Yet we are watching government attention shift toward UFC events at the White House, expensive cosmetic projects, and vanity initiatives that do nothing to improve the lives of ordinary citizens. We were told government spending needed to be cut. We were told agencies had to be downsized. We were told programs serving Americans were wasteful luxuries. If that is true, then why do these projects suddenly become priorities? I do not care about adding ballrooms, building monuments to political egos, hosting fighting events on public grounds, or spending public resources on projects designed primarily to generate headlines. I care about whether veterans can access healthcare. I care about whether seniors can afford medication. I care about whether students can afford college. I care about whether working families can keep food on the table and the lights on at home. Government exists to serve the American people, not to entertain them. The measure of leadership is not how many cameras you attract or how many headlines you generate. It is whether the lives of your constituents improve. Right now, many Americans are still waiting for those improvements. Stop spending time on distractions. Stop treating government like a stage set. Focus on healthcare, education, veterans, energy costs, housing affordability, and the economic challenges facing ordinary Americans. Those are the priorities taxpayers are paying for.
