Stop Dismantling DEI Policies

To: Rep. Lawler

From: A constituent in Sloatsburg, NY

March 7

The obsessive focus on being "anti-woke" and dismantling diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies is an alarming overreach that goes against mainstream American values and views. Recent polling data clearly shows that a majority of Americans across demographics view DEI initiatives as a positive force that has benefited their careers rather than hindered them. The administration's extreme actions, such as attempting to purge DEI programs from public institutions, launching a portal to report "concerning practices," and even targeting private companies and non-profits, reveal a disturbing disregard for the will of the people. These policies are not only cruel but also out of touch with the public's desire for greater racial justice and equity. Furthermore, appointments like that of Darren Beattie, who has made highly offensive and marginal statements demoralizing women and minorities, send a clear message that this administration is catering to fringe ideologies rather than upholding democratic values of inclusion and equal opportunity. I urge you to reconsider this harmful and unpopular obsession with "anti-wokeness." The American people deserve policies that reflect their broad support for diversity and equity, not an extreme agenda rooted in discrimination and cruelty. A course correction is needed to restore faith in our democratic institutions and ensure they truly represent the will of the people.
