As a Texan, I am deeply troubled by the continued efforts to inject Christian nationalism into our public schools through the addition of Bible stories and verses to the curriculum while simultaneously whitewashing important parts of our nation’s and state’s history.
Public schools serve children from many different faiths and backgrounds. They should educate, not indoctrinate. The attempt to privilege one religious viewpoint over others undermines both religious freedom and public education.
I have to ask: What is wrong with you? Have you become so consumed by political ideology that you have abandoned the principles of honesty, inclusion, and the separation of church and state? Many Texans see these actions as a betrayal of the constitutional values you were elected to uphold.
Our children deserve an education grounded in facts, critical thinking, and an honest examination of history, not political or religious agendas. I urge you to stop using public education as a battleground for culture wars and start addressing the real challenges facing Texas schools. Remember Texas is a minority majority state, not a white Christian nationalist state.
