Consequences for Trump's Disregard of the Constitution

To: Sen. Cruz, Rep. Self, Sen. Cornyn

From: A constituent in Allen, TX

April 15

Trump has defied a Supreme Court order by unlawfully deporting Kilmar Abrego Garcia who was unlawfully deported while having been charged with no crime. The Supreme Court is meant to judge the Constitutionality of actions and laws. They have done so for hundreds of years. For Trump to so blatantly defy the decision they reached on April 10th not only sets a dangerous precedent, but completely spits on what the nation stands for. As Americans, we have one of the richest histories which is meant to honor democracy. We are meant to be world leaders. If we cannot even follow our own Constitution, we are nothing more than a joke. Allowing what Trump did to pass without consequence would be to burn our own history and image. I understand that impeachment has been watered down in the last few years. But this cannot go without consequence. If the president, a man meant to represent the nation, cannot even follow the nation's rules, then he is not fit for office. This transcends partisan lines. Plain and simple, this is a threat to American democracy. I urge him to be impeached, or for severe consequences to take place. Checks and balances were built into our Constitution by the Founding Fathers. These principles have guided the nation for hundreds of years, and to discard them so suddenly for the sake of keeping power in a political party is naiv e at best. There are consequences beyond this presidency if no action is taken. America may never be the same if such blatant defiance is accepted. Action must be taken, and it must be taken now.
