Oppose State Department Workforce Cuts - Preserve Diplomacy

To: Rep. McClintock, Sen. Padilla, Sen. Schiff

From: A constituent in El Dorado Hills, CA

July 21

The State Department's plan to lay off over 1,300 experienced employees is deeply concerning and risks undermining America's global leadership. These dedicated public servants play a vital role in advancing U.S. interests abroad through diplomacy, protecting human rights, promoting democracy, resettling refugees, and safeguarding national security. Their expertise accumulated over years of service is invaluable. Drastically reducing the State Department's workforce will diminish its effectiveness and weaken America's ability to address complex global challenges. I urge you to oppose these draconian cuts and support maintaining a robust diplomatic corps to uphold America's values and project influence worldwide. Diplomacy and engagement with allies and partners must remain a core pillar of U.S. foreign policy.
