Defend the Constitution—Dismantle the Religious “Liberty” Commission
To: Pres. Trump
From: A constituent in Seattle, WA
May 8
Donald,
I’m writing to express grave concern over your May 1, 2025 executive order establishing the Religious Liberty Commission.
While its title claims to protect religious freedom, the Commission’s makeup and language suggest otherwise. When figures like Franklin Graham, Ben Carson, and Dr. Phil are chosen to define “threats” to liberty, it signals an agenda that does not represent the rich religious diversity of this country. Instead, it elevates a narrow Christian nationalist worldview at the expense of LGBTQ+ people, religious minorities, secular citizens, and the constitutional separation of church and state.
I urge you to reconsider and rescind this Commission.
True religious liberty means freedom *of* religion and *from* government-imposed belief. This country was not founded on forced conformity to a single faith. It was founded on pluralism, equality, and liberty for all.
As a concerned citizen, I respectfully demand:
* The immediate dissolution of the Religious Liberty Commission;
* A public recommitment to the First Amendment’s Establishment Clause;
* Assurance that government power will not be used to privilege one religion over others.
This isn’t about faith—it’s about control. Please choose to uphold democracy and protect the rights of *all* Americans.
