The proposed America the Beautiful Act seeks to build upon the landmark Great American Outdoors Act by reauthorizing and increasing funding for the Legacy Restoration Fund (LRF). This critical legislation aims to address the serious maintenance backlog across our national parks and public lands, which currently stands at staggering levels - over $23 billion for the National Park Service alone. By boosting the LRF's annual allocation to $2 billion through 2033, this act would provide much-needed resources to tackle long-deferred repairs and improvements at these cherished natural and recreational spaces. Doing so not only preserves these national treasures for future generations but also supports local economies that rely on robust tourism and outdoor recreation opportunities. Given the immense economic and environmental benefits of maintaining our public lands, I urge you to cosponsor and advocate for the swift passage of the America the Beautiful Act.
