Condemn Trump's Offensive Language and Discriminatory Rhetoric

To: Sen. Cornyn, Sen. Cruz, Rep. Self

From: A constituent in Princeton, TX

November 28

I am writing to express my deep concern and disappointment regarding former President Donald Trump's recent Thanksgiving message on Truth Social. The content of this message was not only offensive but also promotes dangerous and discriminatory ideas that have no place in our society. Trump's use of a derogatory slur against Minnesota Governor Tim Walz is particularly alarming. The R-word he employed is deeply offensive to individuals with intellectual disabilities and their families. Such language from a former president normalizes discrimination and perpetuates harmful stereotypes. I urge you to publicly condemn this use of hate speech and advocate for more respectful discourse in our political arena. Furthermore, Trump's anti-immigration rhetoric is deeply troubling. His announcement of plans to "permanently pause migration" from "all Third World Countries" and his inflammatory comments about Somali immigrants in Minnesota are xenophobic and un-American. These statements ignore the valuable contributions of immigrants to our nation and promote a divisive, fear-based narrative. The personal attacks on Representative Ilhan Omar, criticizing her hijab and country of origin, are unacceptable and go against our nation's values of religious freedom and diversity. Such targeted harassment of elected officials based on their faith or background undermines our democratic principles. Trump's attempt to link Biden's immigration policy to a recent shooting in Washington D.C. is misleading, given that the suspect was granted asylum during Trump's own administration. This kind of misinformation stokes fear and resentment without addressing real issues. I implore you to take a strong stance against this type of rhetoric. Our nation needs leaders who unite us, not divide us. Please speak out against the use of offensive language, discriminatory policies, and the spread of misinformation. Advocate for comprehensive, fact-based immigration reform that respects human dignity and recognizes the positive impact of diversity on our society. As your constituent, I ask that you publicly address these concerns and work towards fostering a more inclusive and respectful political discourse. Our community deserves leadership that brings people together and upholds the values of equality and respect for all.
