An Open Letter

To: Sen. Hawley, Rep. Bell, Sen. Schmitt

From: A verified voter in Saint Louis, MO

February 9

I am writing as your constituent to urge you to vote NO on the SAVE America Act. This bill would change how Americans register and vote by requiring proof of citizenship each time someone registers or re-registers, blocking access for millions of eligible citizens who do not have passports or birth certificates readily available. It also limits mail-in voting, imposes narrow ID requirements, and would burden election officials with unfunded mandates and legal penalties. These so-called “solutions” do not address any widespread issue of noncitizen voting, which is already illegal and extremely rare. Instead, they would create confusion, discrimination, and barriers that would disproportionately affect communities of color, older adults, low-income people, rural residents, and other marginalized voters. Please protect our democracy by voting NO on the SAVE America Act.
