I am writing to express my shock and concern that the administration is waiving 28 federal protections in the Big Bend region in southwest Texas to begin construction on a "smart wall." Smart or no, this is still alarming to hear that this country's land is being callously sundered for what amounts to corrupt political theater. You are probably wondering why one of your Ohio constituents cares so much for what looks to the undereducated eye like a vast scraggly desert far away f l and manmade landscapes, encouraging a greater appreciation for our country and the people who labored to build it. rom the comfort of your office. As it so happens, I spent several years working in the Big Bend region, taking tourists on horseback rides through natura l research, and the very suggestion of construction in this matter is spitting in the face of all of it. The land is rugged, yes, but it is also an incredible collection of ecosystems, documenting thousands upon thousands of years of scientific and historica otections to stroke the egos of some of the most corrupt faces of this administration.
