The ongoing military offensive in Gaza has caused immense suffering and loss of innocent civilian lives, including the horrific attack on the tent camp in Rafah that killed at least 35 displaced Palestinians, many of them women and children burned alive. Israel's bombing of shelters across Gaza has led to over 160 additional Palestinian civilian deaths in just 24 hours. This violence and disproportionate use of force against a densely populated civilian area is unacceptable and must end immediately. I urge an immediate ceasefire and a halt to these devastating attacks on Palestinian civilians and their shelters. The cycle of violence and retaliation will only breed more suffering. Diplomatic efforts must be pursued to resolve this conflict through peaceful means that uphold human rights and dignity for all.
