An Open Letter

To: Sen. King

From: A verified voter in South Portland, ME

February 5

I’m writing to ask that Senator King stand firm in his negotiations regarding DHS and ICE. We will not feel safe until ICE is required: — to unmask and to wear badges w/name tags (as is required of all law enforcement agents), —to wear body cameras, —to disarm (they enforce civil violations and do not need weapons to do that), —to have a Judicial Warrant in order to enter a home or private space, and until the FBI and the DOJ collaborate with local law enforcement to investigate all harms caused by ICE and hold accountable those found to be responsible for the harm. These are the same expectations for every law enforcement agency in the US, why should ICE be any different? More than 60% of US voters agree that ICE has gone too far! Please stand up to ICE . You’ve seen them in action - it’s terrifying and has no place in a civil society.
