Oppose H.R. 7661 - No One Is Inherently "Sexually Explicit"

To: Sen. Husted, Sen. Moreno, Rep. Turner

From: A constituent in Beavercreek, OH

February 26

I'm writing today to oppose legislation that was just proposed in the United States House of Representatives, H.R. 7661 “Stop the Sexualization of Children Act.” This bill, as proposed, would make it illegal for publicly funded schools to engage in any acts or provide any content to children under the age of 18 that includes “sexually explicit materials.” The bill, as written, defines “sexually oriented material” as any material that “involves gender dysphoria or transgenderism.” This bill seeks to label any material that discusses transgender people as sexually explicit. Transgender people are ordinary people, just like everyone else. Their mere existence being labeled as sexually explicit is dehumanizing and cruel; and making it a crime to discuss them in public schools does nothing to protect our children. For these reasons, I am asking you to oppose H.R. 7661. Thank you for your time.
