I am writing as a concerned citizen to ask a simple but urgent question: What is the White House doing?
At a time when Americans are grappling with economic uncertainty, rising costs, and a deeply controversial budget, it is both baffling and infuriating to see headlines about lavish spending — not just in Washington, but in Florida, and now on a $200 million ballroom expansion to the White House itself.
Let’s be clear:
• The budget that just passed is widely regarded as a disaster for working families.
• The ballroom project is being funded by unnamed private donors, raising serious questions about influence, favoritism, and backdoor deals.
• The President himself is reportedly contributing, while also standing to benefit from tax cuts and real estate-friendly provisions baked into that same budget.
This reeks of misplaced priorities and political theater. The American people deserve transparency, not opulence. We deserve to know:
• Who are these donors?
• What do they stand to gain?
• Why is the White House prioritizing luxury over accountability?
If this administration wants to build ballrooms and host galas, it should first build trust — and that starts with honesty. Until then, this looks less like leadership and more like legacy-building at the public’s expense.
We are watching. We are asking. And we demand answers.
