I strongly urge you to reject Pete Hegseth's nomination as Secretary of Defense. Based on the concerning information that has come to light, he appears to be dangerously unqualified and unfit for this critical role overseeing our nation's military. The allegations of sexual assault against Hegseth are deeply troubling and call into question his judgment and adherence to ethical standards. Such serious accusations involving the mistreatment of others should automatically disqualify someone from consideration for a position of immense power and responsibility like Secretary of Defense. Moreover, Hegseth's extreme and conspiratorial views, including his rhetoric portraying domestic political opponents as "enemies" to be defeated through extreme measures, raise major red flags about his ability to lead the military in an unbiased, professional manner. His seeming inability to distinguish legitimate policy differences from existential threats is highly concerning. Putting someone with such fringe, us-vs-them beliefs and an alleged history of misconduct in charge of the world's most powerful military would be enormously destabilizing and dangerous. I urge you to resoundingly reject this unacceptable nomination to preserve the integrity, ethics and non-partisan nature of our armed forces. Qualified, morally upright individuals must always lead our military.
