An Open Letter

To: Pres. Trump

From: A constituent in Latham, NY

February 1

As a concerned citizen, I see that the ICE crisis is not just an operations issue but a battle over narrative. If left unaddressed, our opponents will portray it as a scandal to undermine everything we stand for. But your strong leadership can turn this challenge into an opportunity. Your supporters know you stand for law, order, and fairness. Show them we hold everyone – including our own agents – to the highest standards, while exposing -to an extent such that the Democrats will lose ground significantly rather than taking advantage of “ blood in the water”-how the other side enables lawlessness. First, make clear: no one in uniform is above the law. When ICE officers fail, act swiftly. Open independent investigations, fire any agent who has broken the rules, and pursue charges if needed. Lay out names, facts, and timelines. Let the families of innocents like Renee Gold and Alex Pretti see that justice is real and personal, not just rhetoric. This transparency will break the narrative of “impunity” and prove your commitment to justice even when it’s difficult. Second, hold everyone else to the same standard. Those behind the Somali fraud networks — both perpetrators and enablers — must face fair but aggressive prosecution. No exceptions. Let justice proceed openly and by the book. This equal enforcement undercuts any “political witch hunt” claims. Americans will see that our goal is justice for victims, not politics. Make clear where you stand on unrest. Remind the country that peaceful protest and free speech are protected rights. But violent mobs, arson, and those who fund or organize assaults are criminals. Use every lawful tool —even emergency powers if needed —to go after organizers, funders, and repeat offenders. You respect critics; defend their right to peaceful dissent while protecting communities from violent agitators. Support this strategy with a bold communications campaign. Remind Americans of three truths: • ICE Reform and Accountability: Show we are cleaning house and holding rogue agents accountable. • Remember the Victims: Share the stories of people like Renee Gold and Laken Riley, whose lives were taken by system failures. Treat their families with compassion. • Costs of Other Policies: Highlight how sanctuary policies and tolerance of fraud have real costs — innocent lives lost. Don’t sensationalize these tragedies, but don’t sanitize them either. The American people deserve to see the human cost of open borders and selective enforcement. Every horrible detail must be jackhammered into the collective mindset as the other side did with the martyrs of BLM,such that even our opponents cannot drive the pain from their minds any more than the victim’s family. If Americans see that you enforce accountability within your own ranks and relentlessly pursue those enabling crime and unrest, this controversy can become a demonstration of strength, not a weakness. It will lay the foundation for a stronger mandate to secure our borders, uphold the law, and protect peaceful communities. This is the path where law, politics, and principle align under your leadership.
