I am writing to urge you to take immediate action to protect election integrity and prevent federal interference in state election administration. Recent reports indicate that FBI raids have been conducted on election offices in Fulton County, with the president's spy chief personally joining these operations. This represents an alarming escalation of federal overreach into state-run election systems.
A Minnesota judge recently observed that ICE has likely violated more court orders in January 2026 than some federal agencies have violated in their entire existence. This pattern of disregarding judicial authority now appears to extend to election administration, with the president making claims about seizing ballots from state custody. These actions undermine the constitutional framework that assigns election administration to the states and threaten the foundation of our democratic process.
The timing of these federal interventions raises serious concerns about whether we are witnessing crimes in progress rather than legitimate law enforcement activities. When federal intelligence officials participate in raids on election offices, it creates the appearance of political interference rather than impartial investigation. State election officials must be able to perform their duties without fear of federal intimidation or interference.
I am asking you to publicly condemn these federal raids on state election offices and to support legislation that protects state election administrators from federal interference. Congress has the authority to investigate these actions and to establish clear boundaries for federal involvement in state election processes. You should also call for the immediate release of any seized election materials and demand transparency about the legal basis for these operations.
Our democracy depends on the integrity of our election systems and the independence of state election officials. I need to know that you will stand up against federal overreach and protect the constitutional separation of powers that safeguards our elections.
