Urgent appeal to use Presidential Drawdown Authority to support Ukraine
To: Pres. Biden
From: A constituent in Spotsylvania, VA
August 29
Dear President Biden and Members of Congress,
As concerned citizens who support Ukraine’s fight for sovereignty and democracy, we urgently express our concern over the limited use of Presidential Drawdown Authority (PDA) as the fiscal year ends. The hesitancy in utilizing this authority for military aid is alarming, given the ongoing conflict's critical nature and its broader global implications.
Ukraine's defense against aggression is at risk without swift action. Limited PDA use jeopardizes not only regional stability but also U.S. security interests. Timely military support is essential to deter adversaries and uphold U.S. commitments.
The U.S. has a moral obligation to stand by Ukraine. Hesitation to fully employ PDA signals wavering resolve at a crucial time. Proactively using PDA now can prevent further escalation, protect economic and security interests, and demonstrate U.S. leadership on the global stage.
There is broad bipartisan support for aiding Ukraine, reflecting American values. Underutilizing PDA risks eroding this support. We urge you to act decisively and fully utilize PDA to provide the necessary military aid to Ukraine, ensuring that freedom, democracy, and human rights prevail.
Thank you for your attention.
Sincerely,
We the People
