This proposed plan for mass deportations through a declared national emergency is extremely concerning. It raises serious legal and ethical questions while threatening immense human suffering and economic disruption. Rounding up and forcibly removing millions of people, many of whom have lived in the US for years and have families, jobs and communities here, is an unconscionable violation of human rights. The economic fallout could be catastrophic, with labor shortages crippling key industries like agriculture. There must be a more humane approach that upholds our values and the rule of law. I urge you to firmly oppose this draconian proposal and instead pursue comprehensive immigration reform through the proper legislative process. A sweeping deportation program enforced by the military is not the answer. We need policies that respect human dignity while also addressing immigration in a practical, lawful manner. Please stand against this extreme measure that would cause such widespread harm and undermine our democratic principles.
