Vote NO on Trump’s USPS Board nominees

To: Sen. Moreno, Sen. Husted

From: A verified voter in Athens, OH

June 19

I urge you to vote NO on Donald Trump’s nominees to the USPS Board of Governors: Jeffrey Brodsky, William Gallo, Anthony Lomangino, and Robert Steffens. If these four nominees are confirmed, the balance of power on the USPS Board will shift dramatically. Confirming these four Republican nominees would create a Board majority with five Republicans, two Democrats, and one independent, giving President Trump’s pro-privatization and anti-vote by mail allies a governing majority over the Postal Service. These four nominees do not have a record of public service and they do not reflect the public interests in protecting the public service mission of the Postal Service. Anthony Lomangino is a Trump megadonor and a repeat nominee from Trump’s previous attempt to stack the Board. The other nominees come from corporate finance, restructuring, commodities, and dealmaking backgrounds. Those are not qualifications for leading a public institution that serves every address in the country, especially in a major election year with unprecedented attacks on election mail coming from the White House. Trump has already tried to take control of USPS by targeting the Board and threatening to “merge” USPS with the Commerce Department. He interfered with the hiring of the Postmaster General and installed postal leadership with deep ties to private delivery interests. He has also issued an executive order attacking vote by mail, raising the threat that USPS could be pressured into helping restrict ballot access. The Postal Service must remain public, independent, affordable, universal, and accountable to the people. It must serve rural communities, Tribal and Indigenous communities, seniors, veterans, small businesses, postal workers, voters with disabilities, military families, caregivers, students, and every household in every ZIP code. A vote for these nominees is a vote to grant the President a giant leap forward in his plan to privatize the Postal Service and undermine vote by mail. Please vote NO in committee and vote NO if these nominations come to the Senate floor.
