There is a growing sense of urgency and despair that clouds my heart and soul as I write this letter. The horrifying images of lives lost and homes destroyed have become a daily, harrowing reality for Palestinians. I find myself increasingly disturbed by the escalated situation, specifically given that my country - our county - is providing the funds and arms that perpetuate these devastating actions against innocent civilians. An immediate ceasefire is not only humane, but it's fundamentally right, and it is the most immediate solution we can demand. However, we must go further. Our collective voice should also rise against the continued funding and supply of arms to Israel, a move that directly contributes to the escalating imbalance of power and the frequencies of crimes against humanity. It is critical, and I underline the importance of urgently reevaluating our policy that supports such actions, which are not reflective of the American values we uphold - respect for human rights, justice, and peace. Therefore, in the spirit of humanity and justice, I implore those in power to take an unflinching stance against the perpetuation of these gross crimes against humanity, notably with the U.S. involvement in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. As an ordinary citizen, I may not have the power to institute policy changes. Still, I am a part of the collective voice that vehemently condemns these actions and demand pace, and my plea is that you will heed our call. This needs to end. We need to do better. Our humanity depends on it.
