Reassert Congressional War Powers Authority

To: Rep. Steil, Sen. Johnson, Sen. Baldwin

From: A constituent in Twin Lakes, WI

February 28

I am demanding clarity and constitutional accountability regarding U.S. military action reportedly undertaken without explicit congressional authorization. Article I, Section 8, Clause 11 of the Constitution grants Congress — not the President — the power to declare war. This is not optional. It is a foundational safeguard against unilateral war-making. The War Powers Resolution of 1973 requires consultation and limits continued engagement without authorization. When Congress fails to assert its Article I authority, it weakens the separation of powers and places American service members at risk without proper constitutional process. Will you publicly affirm whether Congress has authorized this action and what steps you are taking to uphold your constitutional duty? Your oath was to support and defend the Constitution. This is that moment.
