Impeach Donald J Trump

To: Sen. Hickenlooper, Rep. DeGette, Sen. Bennet

From: A constituent in Denver, CO

February 13

I write to you today as your constituent and as a deeply concerned American citizen to urge you, in the strongest possible terms, to cosponsor and vote in favor of H.Res. 537, which introduces articles of impeachment against President Donald J. Trump. The matters at hand are not partisan — they are constitutional. The integrity of our republic depends on the willingness of Congress to act when a sitting president operates above the law. I respectfully submit the following grounds for my urgent request: 1. MISUSE AND MISAPPROPRIATION OF TAXPAYER FUNDS American taxpayers entrust the federal government with their hard-earned money under the expectation that those funds will be allocated lawfully and in service of the public good. There is mounting evidence that President Trump has directed, facilitated, or personally benefited from the misappropriation of taxpayer dollars in ways that violate both the letter and spirit of congressional appropriations authority. Congress holds the constitutional power of the purse. When the Executive Branch circumvents that authority, it is not a policy disagreement — it is a direct assault on the separation of powers. 2. DISHONESTY AND DECEPTION BEFORE CONGRESS The deliberate act of providing false or misleading information to Congress undermines the legislative branch's ability to fulfill its constitutional duties of oversight and governance. Lying to Congress — whether directly or through appointed officials acting at the President's direction — is not merely unethical. It is a federal offense under 18 U.S.C. § 1001 and a historically recognized ground for impeachment. A president who deceives the body elected to represent the people has broken faith with the American public. 3. SUBVERSION OF THE RULE OF LAW No individual, regardless of office, is above the law. The rule of law is the bedrock upon which our democratic institutions stand. Actions taken by this administration — including the obstruction of lawful investigations, defiance of judicial orders, and weaponization of federal agencies against political opponents — represent a pattern of conduct that systematically erodes the legal framework that protects every American citizen. If the rule of law does not apply equally to the President of the United States, it offers no protection to any of us. 4. SERVICE IN OFFICE AS A CONVICTED FELON President Trump was found guilty on 34 felony counts by a jury of his peers in the State of New York. While the legal system affords every citizen the right to appeal, the fact remains that a sitting president now holds office with felony convictions on his record. This is without precedent in American history and raises profound questions about the moral authority and fitness required of the highest office in the land. The American people deserve a president who meets the basic legal and ethical standards that we expect of any public servant — standards that would disqualify most citizens from far lesser positions of trust. 5. ASSOCIATION WITH JEFFREY EPSTEIN AND RELATED RECORDS The release of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein has brought renewed public scrutiny to individuals connected to Mr. Epstein's criminal enterprise. President Trump's documented associations with Mr. Epstein — and the questions raised by these records — demand full transparency and thorough investigation. The protection of children is not a partisan issue. Any connection between a sitting president and a convicted sex trafficker warrants the most serious congressional scrutiny available under the Constitution. CONCLUSION Representative [Last Name], I did not write this letter lightly. I understand the gravity of impeachment and the weight it carries in our constitutional system. But the framers of the Constitution included this mechanism precisely for moments like this — when the accumulation of executive misconduct poses a clear and present danger to the principles upon which this nation was founded. Impeachment is not punishment. It is accountability. It is Congress fulfilling its sacred obligation to serve as a check on executive power. I urge you to stand on the right side of history and support H.Res. 537. I respectfully request a written response to this letter outlining your position on this resolution and the actions you intend to take. I will be monitoring your voting record closely, as will many of your constituents who share these concerns. Thank you for your time, your service, and your oath to the Constitution of the United States. Respectfully and with urgency,
