I am writing about the recent discovery that the State Department’s procurement forecast list has Tesla as the largest contract for the entire department, with an expected $400 million to be spent on “armored Teslas.” Given Musk’s role in the administration, this reeks of a conflict of interest. I also have serious questions about the utility of “armored Teslas” when Tesla vehicles have recently shown themselves to be suffering from significant quality issues, and I do not expect my tax dollars will receive a quality product for my money. I ask you to use all your resources and to work with your colleagues to investigate this award and if appropriate, deny the appropriation in any upcoming funding legislation.
