An Open Letter

To: Gov. Pillen

From: A verified voter in Bellevue, NE

November 15

Just a word, Jim: read the room. Nebraska voters keep turning away attempts to use state resources to fund private schools. When you said some counties opposed the repeal of LB 1402 unanimously. That isn't even close to true. 80 of the 99 counties voted in support of the repeal and of those that opposed repeal, the vote margin didn't exceed 60 percent. Four times the state has tried to divert public funds to private schools, and four times the voters have turned it away. Give up. And before you assume I'm some godless athiest, I'd like you to know that I graduated from St. Francis de Sales high school in Toledo. I washed dishes to subsidize my tuition, and my parents never would have considered going hat in hand to the state to ask for help with tuition.
