POTUS has no authority to demolish the East Wing of the White House, the historic landmark and base for first ladies since Eleanor Roosevelt. The building belongs to the People, not the president. There are no architectural plans, there has been no lead or asbestos abatement assessment or mitigation, and the demolition is blatantly illegal, violating federal law: Destruction of federal property is a federal crime. 18 U.S. Code § 1361 defines the crime as willfully injuring or committing any depredation against U.S. government property. If the damage exceeds $1k it is a felony with a fine, up to ten years in prison or both.” I urge you to stop the project, despite its alleged private funding, which, by the way, doesn't give the president the authority to violate federal law. In addition, you must require the president to rebuild the East Wing to its exact specs before demolition began. He must restore the historic building asap and do so with his own money. He broke it; he must fix it.
