Oppose Property Tax Removal

To: Sen. Clifford, Rep. Long

From: A constituent in Ulysses, KS

February 12

Please oppose, vocally and repeatedly, any attempt to remove property tax in favor of retail tax. It punishes those who are already likely to be economically disadvantaged (renters, the homeless, students, many people with disabilities that are unable to live independently). By raising their price at the store we harm them with no relief. It provides advantage to those who already are likely to have economic advantage (owning multiple properties). It also punishes all visitors to the state, who had no say in the system. It's an insult to honest, hard-working Kansans who make a living with their hands and buy their own tools and materials. It's also catastrophically stupid to be raising retail prices when they are already historically high. I'm sure you know how that works put at the polls. Oppose this nonsense, and provide opportunities for real economic relief for the people you represent and not wealthy donors.
