STOP FUNDING GENOCIDE WITH OUR TAX DOLLARS
To: Rep. Blunt Rochester
From: A constituent in Newark, DE
May 1, 2024
The recent violence between Israel and Palestinian militant groups like Hamas has led to a tragic loss of life on both sides, with over 2,700 Palestinians and 1,400 Israelis killed between October 7th and October 16th alone. This resolution calls for immediate deescalation and a cease-fire to urgently stop the bloodshed, as well as for the Biden administration to facilitate humanitarian aid reaching Gaza. Hundreds of thousands of civilian lives are at risk if the violence continues unabated. While recognizing the complexities of the conflict, taking swift action to stop the fighting and get emergency relief to those in need is a moral imperative. The unacceptable targeting of civilians, regardless of faith or ethnicity, violates international humanitarian law. As a nation committed to human rights and the preservation of innocent life, the United States must leverage its diplomatic power to help end this deadly cycle of violence and human suffering. Urgent deescalation and humanitarian access to Gaza could save countless lives.
