Vote No on the SAVE America Act

To: Sen. Husted, Sen. Moreno

From: A verified voter in Galloway, OH

March 17

Vote no on the SAVE America Act. This bill would make it harder for eligible American citizens to vote, not easier. Most people don't keep their birth certificate in a desk drawer. Requiring new voters to present passports or birth certificates in person at elections offices will block thousands of eligible voters in our state from registering. Driver's licenses won't work unless they're REAL ID compliant and show citizenship, which almost no state licenses currently do. The bill takes effect immediately if passed, giving election officials no time to prepare before primaries start next month. The provision forcing states to share voter data with the Department of Homeland Security is dangerous. Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer predicts DHS could use this access to purge tens of millions of people from voter rolls. Creating penalties for election officials who register applicants without documentary proof will intimidate workers into turning away valid voters. Federal law already requires voters to be U.S. citizens. This bill solves a problem that doesn't exist while creating real barriers for Americans trying to exercise their right to vote. Don't let this become law.
