Texans Want A Fully Funded Educational System For All Texas Students!

To: Rep. Harris Davila, Sen. Schwertner, Lt. Gov. Patrick, Gov. Abbott

From: A constituent in Leander, TX

August 8, 2025

As your constituent, I urge you to prioritize robust funding for public education and ensure that teachers are paid fairly and competitively. Public schools are the backbone of our democracy and one of the most effective tools we have for building opportunity, equity, and a strong economy. Yet, for too long, educators have been underpaid, classrooms under-resourced, and schools forced to do more with less. This chronic underfunding undermines student success, drives talented educators out of the profession, and deepens disparities for students from low-income and marginalized communities. Teachers are not just instructors—they are mentors, counselors, and lifelines for millions of students. Yet many struggle to afford basic living expenses, with some even taking on second or third jobs to make ends meet. This is unacceptable. If we want to attract and retain high-quality educators, we must treat them as the professionals they are and compensate them accordingly. Investing in public education is not only a moral obligation—it is a smart investment in the future of our country. I respectfully urge you to support increased federal funding for K–12 education, oppose any cuts to public school programs, and champion legislation that raises teacher pay across the board. Thank you for your leadership and your commitment to America’s students and teachers.
