Pass the Freedom to Vote Act and co-sponsor the Democracy for All Amendment. The Citizens United ruling in 2010 blew open the door for unlimited corporate money to flood our elections, and Congress has had over a decade to fix it. The wealthy have learned to route unlimited cash through "independent" political committees that skirt individual contribution limits entirely — and right now, voters have no way to know who's funding what.
The scale of this problem goes beyond disclosure. As long as extreme wealth concentration is legal, the ultra-rich can buy think tanks, fund media organizations, and offer lucrative jobs to politicians who play ball. Louis Brandeis put it plainly: "We can have a democracy or great wealth concentrated in the hands of a few. We can't have both." Twenty-three states already prohibit corporations and unions from contributing to state campaigns — Congress should set that standard nationally. Stop protecting donors and start protecting voters.
