I am writing to express deep concern over Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s proposal to launch a national autism database. This initiative raises serious ethical, legal, and personal concerns regarding privacy and discrimination.
Autistic individuals, like all Americans, deserve the full protection of their personal health data. Creating a centralized database of individuals with autism would violate medical privacy, risk misuse of sensitive information, and could have long-term consequences on employment, education, and healthcare access.
Worse still, public knowledge of such a database may discourage families and individuals from seeking diagnosis and support out of fear of being tracked or labeled. This would directly undermine access to services and lead to worse outcomes for those who need early intervention and lifelong support.
Please stand up for the rights and dignity of the autistic community and all Americans by speaking out against this deeply flawed proposal. I urge you to oppose any legislation or public endorsement that supports the creation of such a database.
Thank you for your time and commitment to protecting the civil liberties of all your constituents.
