Trump wants to rescind the roadless rule in America's national forests. I am opposed! I lived and worked in Alaska for 30 years. I worked for two federal agencies that convinced me that protecting wildlands is one of the primary roles of government in the United States! First I worked for National Marine Fisheries under NOAA at Auke Bay Fisheries Lab in Juneau. There I saw one role of the US Forest Service in SE Alaska was to design roads for logging. I saw this was necessary in the face of the alternative of allowing loggers to do untold damage to fishery streams, USFS planned and designed roads that protected spawning grounds to protect salmon runs. We all want to protect salmon. The fisheries industry of Alaska does. Then I worked for US Fish and Wildlife where we mapped critical habitat for more native wildlife of Alaska in order to ensure the preservation of important habitats in the face of pressure for oil drilling. I could send you an article written about my work. So I am forcefully adamant that you must protect the roadless land status that guards important habitat in America. You must block Trump's short-sighted rape of our natural resources.
