An Open Letter

To: Sen. Bennet, Sen. Hickenlooper, Rep. Hurd

From: A constituent in Montrose, CO

June 29

I just received the message below from AARP! “No backroom deals on Social Security This is outrageous, Stephen: Special interests in Washington are once again pushing Congress to make changes to Social Security without input from everyday Americans. We can’t let Congress go along with their plan for creating unelected commissions or fast-tracking changes to YOUR Social Security. This would mean closed-door decisions about the money we’ve earned over a lifetime of hard work. We can't let them win. Our elected officials must oppose any proposal for secret commissions, closed-door debates, and backroom deals. This is too important to mess around with. We’ve defeated similar measures before — and we can do it again. Contact your representatives RIGHT NOW and tell them: NO backroom deals on Social Security!” I’m contacting you because “backroom deals” are not acceptable! I’m with AARP on this.
