Demand Justice for Renee Good and Alex Pretti — No More Federal Stonewalling I’m writing to demand real accountability in the killings of Renée Good and Alex Pretti, two American citizens killed by federal immigration agents in Minneapolis, and to demand an end to the federal government’s obstruction of the investigations into their deaths. On January 7, 2026, Renée Good, a mother of three, was fatally shot by an ICE agent. Seventeen days later, on January 24, Alex Pretti, a VA intensive care nurse, was shot and killed by CBP officers roughly two miles away while filming agents and standing between an officer and a woman who had been pushed to the ground. Video evidence reviewed by Reuters, the BBC, the New York Times, CNN, and the Guardian shows Pretti holding a phone, not a weapon, in the moments before he was tackled and shot approximately ten times in five seconds. Six months later, no one has been arrested or charged in either death. That is not because evidence doesn’t exist. State investigators have eyewitness testimony and video documenting both incidents in detail. It is because the federal government has actively blocked Minnesota’s investigators from crime scenes and withheld critical evidence, including Good’s car and Pretti’s phone, forcing the state to sue the Department of Justice and Department of Homeland Security just to get access to evidence in the deaths of its own residents. When federal agents kill American citizens and the federal government’s response is to shield the agents involved rather than investigate them, it sends an unmistakable message: accountability depends on who pulls the trigger, not on what happened. That is unacceptable in a country that claims to operate under the rule of law. I’m asking you to: 1. Publicly demand that DHS and DOJ immediately turn over all withheld evidence to Minnesota state investigators. 2. Support congressional oversight hearings requiring DHS and DOJ officials to explain, under oath, why federal agencies have obstructed state investigations into these deaths. 3. Call for the immediate release of the names, training records, and disciplinary histories of every agent involved in both shootings. 4. Support independent, transparent investigations into both killings, with a clear public timeline and real consequences if agents are found to have acted unlawfully. Six months of silence is not an investigation. It’s a cover-up in progress, and I expect you to say so.
