FISA Section 702 was passed to surveil foreign threats abroad. But it's being used to conduct warrantless searches of Americans' emails, texts, and calls. The FBI has admitted to hundreds of thousands of improper queries of Americans under this authority – including searches targeting journalists, protesters, political donors, and even members of Congress! And now AI can make it much easier for the government to comb through FISA 702 data to conduct warrantless mass surveillance. America was founded on the idea that the government can't search our private lives without a warrant. The Fourth Amendment is not optional! Honor that legacy and vote NO on any FISA 702 reauthorization that doesn't include a real warrant requirement! The US has never, ever been an authoritarian country, but we are sure as hell are being pushed in that direction under the Trump administration and his sycophant loyalist party: Creating a climate of fear by putting military and masked security forces in the streets, arresting political opponents and journalists, abusing and killing protestors. The Gov has detained certain people without actually officially charging them with anything? Does the government have hyper-consolidated power in the hands of one person? Trump's executive orders. Is your leader financially benefiting from being the leader of the government? Does the leader lie in public and then intentionally act on those lies, and the cult-like followers pretend the lies are true? Does the leader free criminals, and then prosecute the people who originally persecuted those criminals? Is your leader threatening judges and ignoring courts? Is your leader constantly trying to silence or attack the media if it is critical of the leader?
