An Open Letter

To: Sen. Sullivan, Rep. Begich, Sen. Murkowski

From: A constituent in Cooper Landing, AK

April 21

Vote NO on the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act. It is not about securing our elections. It is about removing millions of Americans who are eligible to vote from the rolls. If you vote for it, you’re not defending democracy. You’re helping dismantle it. This bill would gut mail-in and online voter registration, end automatic registration efforts, and crush voter registration drives especially in underserved communities. It would allow voter purges without notice and even threaten election workers with prison time for registering citizens who lack the exact documentation. Married women, seniors, indigenous people and other communities already facing systemic barriers, people with disabilities, rural residents, and low-income Americans would be among the first silenced. These aren’t unintended consequences—they are the goal. The SAVE Act is an attack on Alaskans and Americans right to vote. You must vote NO on the SAVE Act. Reject this disgraceful attempt to silence the people.
