The Department of Education plays a vital role in supporting education across the United States. It provides crucial funding and resources for K-12 public schools, especially those serving underprivileged and disabled students. The department also manages federal financial aid programs that help millions of students access higher education through grants, loans, and work-study opportunities. Attempting to dismantle this department would undermine key services that teachers, students, and families rely on. While reforms may be warranted, completely eliminating the Department of Education is an extreme measure that requires Congressional approval, which the current administration lacks. Such a move would disproportionately impact disadvantaged communities and limit educational opportunities for many Americans. Instead, we should work to strengthen the department's ability to promote quality education and expand access for all students. I urge you to reject efforts to abolish the Department of Education and instead focus on improving its efficacy in supporting our nation's learners and educators.
