I am calling for the resignation of Senator Ron Johnson because he has repeatedly demonstrated an unwillingness to carry out the essential duties of his office. A United States Senator is entrusted with representing the people of Wisconsin, exercising independent judgment, and upholding the constitutional responsibilities assigned to Congress. Senator Johnson has consistently failed to meet these obligations. Senator Johnson has shown a persistent pattern of disregarding the concerns of his constituents. When Wisconsin voters raise issues about healthcare, economic stability, public safety, or national security, he routinely minimizes or dismisses those concerns. Instead of engaging with the people he represents, he aligns himself with partisan interests that do not reflect the needs of Wisconsin families. He also frequently misrepresents his own positions. Senator Johnson often claims to be undecided or evaluating legislation independently, yet when votes occur, he reliably supports whatever is placed before him by party leadership or former President Trump. This pattern of saying one thing publicly and doing another privately erodes trust and undermines the transparency expected of a U.S. Senator. A particularly troubling example is his refusal to carry out Congress’s constitutional responsibility regarding War Powers. When asked about voting on Trump’s military actions, Senator Johnson stated that “there cannot be 565 commanders‑in‑chief,” using this line to avoid taking a required vote. But voting on War Powers is not optional — it is a core Article I duty. His attempt to “pass the buck” shows a clear unwillingness to perform the job he was elected to do. Additionally, Senator Johnson has amplified misleading narratives about major national events, including unsupported claims related to 9/11. When elected officials repeat debunked or unverified information about matters of national trauma, it undermines public confidence and disrespects the seriousness of those events. Taken together, these behaviors demonstrate a lack of accountability, transparency, and commitment to the people of Wisconsin. For these reasons, I respectfully call for Senator Ron Johnson to resign so Wisconsin can be represented by someone who fulfills the responsibilities of the office and listens to the people they serve.
