Protect Nevada — Oppose Reckless Cuts to Medicaid and Clean Energy
To: Rep. Amodei

May 10
As a constituent in Congressional District 2, I urge you to oppose the current Republican proposal for $1.5 trillion in federal spending cuts paired with $4.5 trillion in regressive tax breaks. While pitched as “fiscal discipline,” the reality for Northern Nevada is destabilizing: fewer health clinics, halted clean energy projects, and deeper burdens on state and local governments already stretched thin.
Medicaid cuts hit hardest in our own backyard. Counties like Elko, Nye, and White Pine rely on Medicaid reimbursements to keep rural clinics open and emergency care available. Undermining this safety net doesn’t shrink government—it just shifts costs to families and counties.
Your district is also on the front lines of Nevada’s clean energy boom. In Churchill, Mineral, and Storey counties alone, new solar, geothermal, and battery projects are creating thousands of jobs and attracting billions in federal investment. Rolling back these investments doesn’t just kill jobs—it sidelines Nevada in the 21st-century economy.
Let’s also be honest: Repealing the SALT deduction cap is a giveaway to the wealthy that won’t help most of your constituents—especially in counties where housing costs are rising and incomes haven’t kept pace. These tax schemes don’t pay for themselves. They come at the expense of working families, veterans, tribal communities, and small businesses who depend on functioning public systems.
We need you to say no to cuts that would gut our health infrastructure, derail clean energy jobs, and leave Northern Nevada holding the bag.
