Ban Paraquat Now

To: Sen. Husted, Rep. Landsman, Sen. Moreno

From: A verified voter in Cincinnati, OH

May 27

Ban paraquat. This herbicide is linked to Parkinson's disease, banned in over 70 countries including the EU and China, and still legal here. The EPA had the chance to act in October 2020 and instead re-approved it for another decade. That was the wrong call, and Congress needs to correct it. Nearly 50 members of Congress have already called for a ban, thousands of lawsuits are pending, and the Parkinson's Foundation has formally urged the EPA to act. Parkinson's affects roughly 1% of everyone over 60 — it is progressive, incurable, and devastating to families. Continuing to allow a chemical that other developed nations banned years ago is indefensible. Support a federal ban on paraquat.
