Not releasing SNAP funds is morally bankrupt

To: Rep. Van Duyne, Sen. Cornyn, Sen. Cruz

From: A constituent in Dallas, TX

November 4

I am writing in outrage after this Republican administration’s public declaration that it will not follow court orders to release the SNAP contingency funds. This is not leadership. It is cruelty against the most vulnerable of our fellow Americans. Millions of Texans—working families, seniors, veterans, and children—depend on SNAP to eat. Federal judges have ordered these funds released. Defying those orders to score political points is unlawful, immoral, and ethically bankrupt. No administration has the right to starve Americans for political gain. Anyone in office who supports this, or remains silent about this, is complicit in it. My wife and I urge you, as member of Congress, to act immediately to release SNAP funding, enforce judicial orders, and ensure no administration can weaponize hunger against its own citizens again.
