Reject harmful voter disenfranchisement bill SAVE Act
To: Sen. Marshall, Sen. Moran
From: A constituent in Wichita, KS
May 13, 2025
The SAVE Act places significant barriers on the ability of eligible citizens to exercise their constitutional right to vote. Many communities would face disproportionate burdens in obtaining the narrow list of accepted documentation, including married women whose documents may not reflect name changes, seniors who lack current forms of ID, those with disabilities complicating document acquisition, and overseas military personnel away from home for extended periods. Throughout history, Constitutional amendments like the 15th, 19th, and 26th have aimed to expand voting rights and participation in our democracy. This bill moves in the opposite direction by erecting unnecessary hurdles that undermine those hard-won protections. I urge you to reject this legislation that disenfranchises large segments of the voting population.
