I am a constituent in Eugene writing to ask you to stand up for Kilmar Abrego Garcia, Andry Hernandez Romero, and others like them who have been illegally sent to an El Salvadoran concentration camp. Trump’s defiance of the Supreme Court’s decision is extremely dangerous, as is his open speculation about doing similar things to American citizens. You have immigrant communities here in Oregon who are terrified. You have Americans here who are terrified. Anyone who thinks that they’ll stop if they aren’t stopped is delusional. They are testing the system to see what they can get away with, and if they get away with this, they will go after naturalized citizens, prominent Trump critics, and protesters next. This is Authoritarianism 101. I don’t know why I haven’t seen statements from you yet about this, but NOW is the time. Later will be too late. NOW is the time to fight.
