Block any visa or protected status for Flávio Bolsonaro and send him back to Brazil. He fled his country after losing the presidential election, defied a Brazilian Supreme Court order to surrender his passports, and routed through Argentina and Ecuador to reach Miami. That is not the behavior of someone seeking a fresh start. That is someone evading justice.
Brazil has an active investigation into Bolsonaro for alleged corruption and money laundering. Welcoming him here, with the State Department already signaling it will issue visas, turns the US into a refuge for a foreign national who refused to comply with his own country's highest court. The Trump administration saying it would be "okay" with him staying does not make it right. Granting him shelter undermines the rule of law abroad and sets a troubling precedent for every authoritarian who loses an election and looks to us for cover.
