**Oppose National Guard Deployment in Kentucky and to Washington D.C.** Governor Beshear, I urge you to stand firmly against any deployment of the National Guard in Louisville or any other Kentucky city, and to refuse sending our Kentucky National Guard to Washington D.C. Mayor Craig Greenberg has reported significant progress in reducing crime in Louisville, with homicides and nonfatal shootings down by over 30% compared to the same period last year. This improvement demonstrates that our local law enforcement and community initiatives are effective without the need for military intervention. The recent order by President Trump to deploy more than 2,000 National Guard members to Washington D.C. is deeply concerning. Such militarization of our cities is an overreach that risks escalating tensions and undermining the progress we've made in community policing and crime reduction. As a constituent, I believe that deploying the National Guard in our communities or sending our state's Guard members to the nation's capital would be counterproductive to the peace and safety we all desire. It could potentially undo the hard-won trust between law enforcement and citizens that has contributed to the crime reduction we're seeing in Louisville. I ask that you publicly affirm your commitment to keeping our National Guard focused on their primary mission of responding to natural disasters and genuine state emergencies. Please also communicate with the federal government your opposition to using Kentucky's National Guard for political purposes in Washington D.C. Our state has shown that we can address public safety concerns through community-based solutions and smart policing strategies. Let's continue to support these effective local efforts rather than resorting to military-style interventions that could inflame tensions and reverse our progress.
